In 2005 Joke Beyl graduated in Communication Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). After this, she finished an additional Master in Cultural Sciences at the VUB in 2006. Next, she did an internship for four months at the communication and exhibitions department of the Musée Fabre in Montpellier. Since April 2007 she is part of the SMIT-team. Until October 2008 she was involved as a researcher in several projects analyzing the relation between culture and new media. As of October 2008 she works as assistant at the department of Media and Communication Studies of the VUB where she is preparing a PhD on the social relationship between artists and their audience in the context of the interactive Internet, related to the concept of artistic authority.
